Striped bass. Captain John of Captain Sheriff’s Fishing Charters, Warwick, related a good bass bite north of Conimicut Light on the channel break this past weekend trolling tube and worm in 15 to 25 feet of water, John caught two nice keepers and a total of six fish. Steve McKenna of Cranston and an associate at Quaker Lane Outfitters, North Kingstown said, “The fish are on the night feed now”. Steve said, “I had eight from eight to eighteen pounds that I caught last evening at Narragansett on metal lip swimmers lures and darters. It was my first after dark trip of the season and a good night.” Fishing at the West Wall of the Harbor of Refuge and at Matunuck is still good. Steve also caught school bass in Cranston last week at Pawtuxet Cove with Cocahoe minnows and Beachmaster Dannys around high tide. I continue to catch fish north of Conimicut Point, taking six bass this weekend, landing one keeper. Dave Henault of Ocean State Tackle, Providence, reports many fish now being taken at the hurricane barrier in Providence. Dave said, "Keeper bass were taken on sandworms at River Road north of the Henderson Bridge on Sunday." Dave continued to say that, “Early morning striped bass fishing has been good at India Point and at Conimicut Light in Warwick.”.
