Striped Bass, Bluefish and Fluke fishing are hot at Block Island. The North rip is loaded with Bluefish and some Bass. Bass and Blues are still feeding on sand eels on the North rip and Block Island's Clayhead area as well. The Bass can be taken on umbrella rigs, Topwater early in the morning, vertical jigging diamond jigs during the day and eels anytime. Bass are also being caught with eels at day and night along the southern shoreline of the Block. The bigger Bass seem to coming from the south end of the island with a variety of fishing techniques. The bigger bass are mostly taken on eels.
